Hello everyone! My name is Brandon Vu and I am an educator in the Bay Area.

I received my undergraduate degree at San Francisco State University where I majored in English Education with an emphasis in creative writing.

I was a season 22 member of AWP’s Writer-to-Writer Program.

Additionally, I was a finalist for the 2025 Goldline Press Chapbook Competition, a finalist for the 2026 Robert Phillips Poetry Chapbook Prize, and my work has appeared in diaCRITICS, Ghost City Press, KQED, and The San Franciscan.

And in the Fall 2026, I will be attending University of San Francisco for an MFA in Writing.

I am typically inspired by other writers, life experiences, and culture. Often times, I find myself writing about my Vietnamese identity and a topic that I always circle back to is my mother. She makes me feel Vietnamese enough.
